Congratulations to our superb scientists for their hard work and diligence at our science fair.  The judges had the difficult task of choosing finalists and winners from the FANTASTIC array of projects. This year, it was an all girls win, and 7th grade rocked the older grades!   They will represent APA at the Charter School District Science Fair February 13th. They go with the sincere backing of their Draper 2 Campus family!

During January our secondary students have the opportunity to choose three courses from the Winterim catalog designed to take them deeper into subject areas as well as explore areas that are not covered in their daily curriculum.

Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they studied things such as improv acting, robotics, Capoeira, birds, mock trial, song writing, etc.

They conclude their experience with an assembly where they share all that they have learned.

Our 4th – 8th grade Super Spellers came together to represent their classes at the School Spelling Bee January 21st to compete for Draper 2 representative positions. The students competed well and used great spelling strategies to spell some very tough and tricky English words. Thank you to all our parents who support our students as they work hard to get smarter and develop great character along the way. We appreciate all the work ALL of our students put forth in doing their best for the Classroom Bees as well as the School Bee.

Dear Parents,

American Preparatory Academy is now re enrolling CURRENTLY ENROLLED students for the 2015-2016 school year and accepting applications for siblings and transfers.

Please keep in mind that completing this form is NOT a guarantee of placement for your students at your requested location or a guarantee that siblings will be enrolled.

Re Enrollment

In accordance with Board of Education policy, we are now accepting applications for currently enrolled students to re enroll for the 2015-16 school year. In accordance with the policy, students that do not notify American Prep at this time that they intend to withdraw and enroll in a District School or another Charter School MAY BE DENIED ADMISSION TO THE DISTRICT OR OTHER CHARTER SCHOOL. Your honesty at this time is much appreciated.

SIBLINGS

To be accepted under the sibling priority status, the applying student must share at least one parent on the birth certificate. Cousins, aunts, uncles, and neighbors will not be accepted. Seats will be filled upon availability beginning on FEBRUARY 1^ST for secondary and JUNE 1^st for elementary.

2015-16 Kindergarten

All applications received on or before the application deadline will be eligible for enrollment. In the case that more applications are received then space is available, a lottery of sibling kindergarten students will be held. You will be notified by FEBRUARY 20^th of your K student’s enrollment status.

Transfers

American Preparatory Academy allows priority enrollment status for students transferring between APA locations. Students will receive priority AFTER staff students and siblings enrolled at that location. A very small number of students requesting a transfer will receive placement. Families will be notified when their transfer application has been approved. In order to qualify for transfer, families must complete this form and meet all the qualifications and standards for promotion (see Parent/Student Handbook). Transfer students will be notified of their approval beginning JUNE 1^st.

Re-enrollment form

Our Draper 2 5th grade choir performed this morning at the Grand Opening of Wal-Mart in Riverton under the direction of Magnificent Mr. Leavitt.  Our students were officially invited to perform the National Anthem at the flag ceremony, but ended up entertaining the enthusiastic customers with several songs!

We would like to thank Mr. Archuletta for his kind invitation.  It was a pleasure!

APA welcomed some generous supporters of APA’s robotics class!   Mr. Kikuchi, the CEO of LS Japan and Jay Jayaseelan, CEO of Learning Through Robotics toured our campus and visited our Winterim Robotics class.  We are so grateful for their support and look forward to a long lasting  relationship.

Draper High School

Due to our difficulties in securing access to our Draper school via the public road of 11950 S., the Draper High School construction has been postponed; however, Draper 2 will still include 11th grade in the 2015-2016 school year.  We encourage interested parents to monitor this website for news items related to this issue.  When American Prep shows up on the Draper City Council’s agenda, we will post notice of it in our “Latest News” section of the website.

West Valley 2 Expansion

This summer we hope to expand the western end of the West Valley 2 campus by approximately 6 classrooms.  This part of the building has always been in the plans to provide a more comfortable learning environment for our students and staff, but we have lacked the financing to do so.  We hope to secure this financing by the end of this school year.  This expansion will not provide room for additional enrollment at the campus, but it will allow us to run our complete array of award-winning programs at full capacity.

Las Vegas

Currently, American Prep – Las Vegas is renting a facility in the western part of the city.  This facility has the capacity of only 400 students.  This is a temporary facility that we secured when we were not able to get permits for a new construction in time to start this school year.  The new campus will be conveniently located off of 215 at the corner of Durango and Patrick in the southwest corner of the city.  This campus will hold nearly 1,000 K-10 students in the 2015-2016 school year, and will expand to a 1,350 student K-12 in the following years.  We are very excited about this and some of our parents joined us for our groundbreaking ceremony held on December 19th.  Click here for more information on that event.  For future updates and more details on the Las Vegas campus (current and future), visit the APA-LV homepage by clicking here.
