While getting ready for the new school year, Bill Hurlbutt from our operations team had the unfortunate task today of cleaning the discarded gum from our sidewalks. It is a job that we would rather not assign to him or anyone at the school, but when gum is chewed and casually discarded, then it creates a mess. Please, Please do not chew gum at the school and always discard any gum in a trash can. Bill and the rest of our school community thank you in advance for your cooperation.
New Entrance to our Driveway
There has been lots of activity on our property this summer including the work that will change up the entrance to our driveway. Crews will be working to reconfigure the entrance to help make it a smoother transition for vehicles. There will also be new curbing and traffic flow designs will also be part of this work that was approved and required as part of our site plan for the high school.
Curriculum Room
It takes a lot of effort and many hours to order, sort, barcode and organize all the curriculum for our schools. Pam Gibbons, our Draper 2 and 3 Curriculum Manager and Lori Stephenson our District Curriculum Director have been working hard to organize everything, but they are still surrounded by piles of books. There is always a large list of needs in our curriculum room and they would welcome any parent help. Please contact Pam Gibbons directly at pgibbons@apamail.org

Getting Ready for the School Year!
Getting Ready for School Year!
There are a lot of people we don’t always get to see that help make our schools clean and comfortable. A Big Shout Out to AJ Carpet Cleaning & Service, Amador, Anthony and Juan for all their hard work cleaning the carpets in our schools! Taking care of our schools is a big job and with all our help Juan and his crew won’t have to work as hard next summer.
School Day Start/Finish Times for 2017-2018
We’re ready to announce our start and finish times for Draper 2 and 3 for the 2017/2018 school year. We want to thank all of you for participating in our recent surveys regarding start times and carpool! As you know, there are many variables we considered when establishing the start and end times. Parent preferences and convenience was fully considered and we appreciate all the input we received! We also needed to take into account the after-school activities schedule for our 2A High School, including athletic events, and our carpool drop-off and pickup loads.
Draper 2: Grades K-6
Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8:15 am-3:25/3:50* pm
Wednesday and Thursday 8:15 am-2:25/2:50*pm
*At D2 we divide the after-school pickup into 2 dismissals. First dismissal and second dismissal.
Draper 3: Grades 7-12
Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8:00 am-3:15/3:40/415 pm
Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 am-2:15/2:40/3:15 pm
Drop off for each school starts 30 minutes prior to the start time.
As returning families will recognize, the D3 schedule is the same as this year’s schedule, with D2’s schedule adjusting by just 15 minutes. We know from our parent feedback that this schedule is not ideal for all families. We do feel that it successfully achieves a balance between all the different considerations involved in scheduling the school day start and finish times.
You may be interested to know the results of our parent survey. A majority of our elementary parents chose the 8:15 a.m. start time, though it was nearly evenly split between those parents and parents who prefer 8:00 a.m. A large majority of our secondary parents (nearly double any other choice) chose the 8:00 a.m. start time. We are grateful we are able to provide start times that our parents prefer by majority.
We are also excited to announce that we will be launching our new Draper 2 & 3 pilot bus program this fall! More details to come in the middle of July.
School Day Start/Finish Time Announcement Coming Soon!
We are working on finalizing the school start and finish times for the 2017-2018 school year. We gathered input from our parents through a couple of surveys and many conversations, have been working with Draper City to spread out our carpool traffic load over a longer period of time and giving consideration to our athletics and after school activities. Look for our official announcement next week.
Cleaning Party Thank You!
A great big shout out and thank you to all of the parents and students that came to help us clean classrooms at Draper 2 today! There are many ways that our parents help our school by volunteering and this is a great way for both parents and families to get our school ready for the upcoming year. We will be organizing more of these throughout the summer, and will post them to our Volunteer link on our web-site.
