What a great night to celebrate with our American Prep community.  Thanks to all the volunteers and our amazing FSO Leaders, Nicole Harman, Stacia Shavaloff, Zoie Farmer, Kelly Bible and so many more, we enjoyed a great evening of food trucks, bouncy houses, rock wall, laser tag, archery, face painting, henna and all kinds of delicious baked items.

Our first fundraising event to kick off the new school year is tonight.  Come enjoy a family night out at Cafe Zupas.  Proceeds benefit our amazing Family School Organization (FSO).  There is also an on-line ordering option this year as well.

Our staff enjoyed a great luncheon this past week during training.  Thank you to all of the parent volunteers that made it possible!  We LOVE our parents!

As part of our staff training, we work with a nationally recognized expert in safety and security.  Dave Acosta has been working with American Prep for over five years providing “Fight Back Training” to train staff how to disarm anyone that would enter our schools with a gun.  This hands on training empowers our staff to take charge of any situation that could arise with an armed intruder into our schools.  American Prep is now “Fight Back” Certified.

What a great evening for a movie!  A big thanks to Friends of APA, our Education Foundation for sponsoring our 3rd Annual Outdoor Movie Night.  We had a great turnout and enjoyed watching the movie on a BIG screen that was on our Draper 3 building.  Thanks to our Operations and IT teams that made it possible.

It has been a busy summer and we are still wrapping up a few building projects.  One of the bigger and more exciting projects was the addition of new equipment on our playground.  We know that our students will be very excited about all the new equipment and have just a couple of more pieces to install over the next week.

We received some sad news this past week about our APA family.  Michael Sharette, son of our Executive Director, Carolyn Sharette, passed away last week.  He worked and has been part of our APA family for years.  The Sharette family appreciates all the love, care and support from everyone and welcomes all that want to attend services for Michael.  Here is a link to the obituary.

Summer is always busy with different projects and we have started on many of them.  New carpet has been installed throughout the hallways and common areas. Outside on the playground we have broken ground to install new pieces of equipment and install a new surface!  This will be a very welcome addition providing more active equipment choices for students during recess.

As part of our school improvement process, our teachers spend a week analyzing the data collected and using the experience gained throughout the year to improve what we do as a school.  This post service week is a valuable and important part of our improvement process.  While your students have started to rest, relax and shift into summer activities, our teachers have been super busy and engaged with each other to make our school better.  Thank you teachers for your concentration and efforts this week!
