Our campus is K-12 and it was very exciting to have a homecoming basketball game to attend over at Draper 3. Our school’s mascot, Ace, showed up and was a big hit with the young students. He was also hanging out with Trent Sims, one of our Super Star Seniors. What an exciting game and event!
Race to the Governor’s Desk!
As part of our character development curriculum, our students get to learn about our state’s legislative process and visit the capitol to see it in action. Come learn about how our state government works by playing a fabulous game created by our character development team. We will have a family game night on Monday, February 5th from 6-7:30 pm in Draper 2’s Multi-purpose room. Come anytime during this time and we will get you set up on a table and you will learn lots about our legislative process and have some fun!

DIBELS Testing
As part of the data we collect to measure student mastery and of academic skills we have our teachers work one-to-one with their students three times a year giving a DIBELS assessment. DIBELS stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. These tests measure students reading rate as well as their comprehension of what they read. There are established national standards that we use to assess whether students are meeting these benchmarks to be considered reading at grade level. Mrs. Hall is working with Elena Park on the mid-year DIBELS assessment.
Volunteers are AWESOME!
One of the strengths of our schools is how our parents contribute by volunteering. There are many ways to contribute and all are extremely valuable. Today we had Sean and Chantel Estes come in to Mrs. Henry’s 1st grade class to check out library books to the students. Our libraries are located in the classrooms and our wonderful parent volunteers come in every week to help with this important task. Thank you Sean, Chantel and ALL of our parents that volunteer in our school.
Parent Power!
One of the hallmarks and traditions of American Prep is the involvement of our parents. I ran into Master Hong this morning when coming in from carpool. He is looking good in one of our spirit wear hoodies that he got for Christmas and will be offering a Tae Kwon Do class for the next three weeks! All the money from this introductory class goes directly to American Prep Education Foundation and “Friends of APA”. Thank you Master Hong!
Being Responsible
Name tags are part of the uniform at American Prep. It was great coming in this week and finding a couple of students being responsible to come to the office to pay for a new name tag and magnetic back. New name tags cost $5 and a magnetic back is $1. The two photos are the before and after shots of these responsible students.
Cursive in Kindergarten?
1st Grade Team
One of the best parts of our school is the amazing staff that work together with all of your students. You can see the joy left in their faces, even at the end of a full day of teaching. From left to right, Mrs. Durling, Ms. Callister, Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Dayberry, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Bodtcher.
