American Prep is school of many families and cultures. Mrs. Hyer’s 4th grade class had the opportunity to hear Lily play the zither in their classroom. Lily wore a traditional dress while playing this traditional instrument and all of her classmates were amazed. Thank you Lily for sharing your culture and music with our students and school!
Staff Appreciation Week
One of our annual traditions at American Prep began on Friday as our wonderful parents and students spent the evening decorating the doors of our staff. It is the start of a great week of appreciating the hard work of our staff to educate our students. Thank you to all of our families for your work and incredible creativity.
Note One Thing Ever!
Snow Day!
Wow! What a snowstorm! It is one of those rare days that happen during a winter storm when it is not safe to travel to school. So, to the delight of many of our students, American Prep did not have school today. Although the school looks empty and deserted, we look forward to having all of our staff and students back filling the halls, classrooms and parking lots tomorrow.
Volunteer Breakfast!
One of the most important factors in what makes an effective school is parental involvement. At American Prep we are very fortunate to have so many highly involved parents. Our parents make our school great and as a show of our appreciation, we had a breakfast where Mr. McVicar and our administrative staff made pancakes for our parents. Our students also made “Thank you” posters as a sign of their appreciation.

Learning about the Incas!
DIBEL’s Day
Three times a year we collect data on student’s reading fluency. The testing program we use is the Dynamic Indicator of Basic Literacy Skills, commonly referred to as “DIBELS”. This is just one of the different data points we use to evaluate student’s skill development. A big shout out and thanks to all of the many parent volunteers that came in and helped make this happen! Our parent community contributes in so many ways! Thank you!
Rock the Socks Video
We had a very successful “Rock the Socks campaign at all of our APA schools! Giving back to those in our community is one of the foundational principles of our schools. It is amazing what can happen when we get involved and help, even in such simple ways. Thank you to all of our school community for your contributions this holiday season.

Passion for Learning
It is always exciting to greet our students after they return from a break. Presley Page used this extra time to get in some extra learning and brought in a bug that she created. Pursuing learning for learning’s sake is always inspiring. Thanks Presley for inspiring us to continue learning even during a break from school.
